Summer Holiday Edition of Intuition Tools Reading Inspiration
How to keep your intuition inspiration close during July and August
Aaaaah, the summer…. Sunshine, icecreams, summer holiday – and books. What a joyous feeling it is! In just 2 days’ time, I will be leaving for the south of France. How about you?
Even though I won’t have the daily holiday reading time like I used to as a twenty-something girl because I’m taking my 6-year-old along, I am going to pack at least 5 inspirational, intuition-based, spiritual, creativity-sparking and phychic books.Â
I won’t be taking the books in the picture with me though, because I’ve already read those. BUT those 5 books are certainly amongst the best I’ve read AND they’re utterly perfect as a holiday read: some easy to digest, some filled with lovely short stories, some enriched with easy-to-do exercises, some with 3-page chapters brimming with wisdom you can apply anytime, anywhere.Â
So. Are you looking for (renewed) inspiration? Ways to start a mindfulness practice? Looking to connect to your inner self over the summer? Do you want to deepen your spiritual work? Here is the list for you:
Summer Holiday Intuition Tools Inspiration
1. The Listening Path by Julia Cameron
The Listening Path is set up as a 6 week program to follow, from starting your listening habits and ending in the deepest mindful connection; perfect to accompany you on your summer travels, because each ‘week’ is part theory, part story, part exercises. It is light and fun to read, as well as profoundly wise.Â
2. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
If you want to be creative – completely, and with your whole being – Big Magic teaches us there are 6 phases involved. Each phase is a part of the book and has various beautiful stories connected to it, that explain how to go about the process to start with your creativity ánd to persevere. Elizabeth nudges you to just go and be creative and does so in different ways: lovely, supportive, strict, wise, compassionate…. and so much more.
3. Moonology by Yasmin Boland
I am a really big fan of this book. I was already aware that the lunar cycles influence me a lot, but I didn’t know the specifics of it. Moonology has taught me all the basics and gives me all the details if I need more depth. I continue to use the book almost every new and full moon and I can’t really imagine my life without this profound wisdom anymore.
4. Outrageous Openness by Tosha Silver
This book is just perfect for a holiday, take it to the beach, to a lovely patch of grass, or read a page or two while preparing a family barbeque. Its 3-page short chapters read like a summer breeze; lovely, easy and light, and they make you feel so very relaxed. It inspires us to look for how day-to-day experiences and situations may in fact be simpler then we thought, not so difficult as we may have feared, and especially not to be taken as seriously as we tend to do.
5. The Heroine’s Journey by Maureen Murdock
This book and the Journey itself give incredible insight into how we behave as women, what choices we make and how we can grow towards a stronger and softer balance in a society where the masculine is always the golden standard. And don’t worry: our journey is not a feminist one and we aren’t striving to leave feminine or masculine behind completely either. No, we have all these aspects within us and we want – we need – to figure out how we can merge all of it to become well-balanced people.Â
Enjoy your summer!
